**this has gone too far... WoW needs to be stopped. The other day I saw "WoW presents the NBA Playoffs". The two have nothing to do with each other! They are branching out and targeting all of the basketball lovers. Their evil plan is to convert all the basketball lovers into WoW players and in turn they will stop watching basketball and play WoW instead and then Lebron James won't get paid any more. =(

    STOP THE MADNESS!!

    anyways my real entry...

Something that I've been thinking abou recently, just about how we people learn from our experiences and how our experiences shape who we are. People who have seen and experienced difficult things and come out of these experiences, come out stronger and tougher. Personally, I've been through quite a bit, I don't know if it's fair to say I've been through more than others but there are definitely things that I've seen that many people haven't and shouldn't ever go through. Yet these are the things that have shaped me the most and helped me become stronger.

Is it possible to learn without getting burned? Another question yet is how do we teach this on to the next generation? Is it even possible...

The reason why I starting thinking about this is just the general decline in this characteristic. What I mean is that the next generation tends to be more "soft". For example, we hear stories about how our parents had to study all day and night just to get good grades and worked day and night just to get out of where they were and get to where they are now. The next generation in this family is sort of spoiled cause the parents don't want their kids to go through the same thing. But the problem is that the next generation isn't able to study or work day and night. Cause they don't have to.

and now in the midst of a recession... how does this new generation react? How does one react after getting burned for the first time ever?

I don't know, this is where my thoughts get stuck... what are yours?

sad but random nerdy fact about matt... matt has started playing D2 again and one of his favourite things about that game is inventory management... i feel like ive accomplished something when i manage to organize all the items i need back to town without going back once more

Matthew's Blog... Earth Date: May 14th, 2009, 22 hundred hours....

-I haven't written in a while, so I'm just going to write briefly on the stuff I wanted to write about before

Item 1) Here is the aftermath of exam period:

Goatee power!! (see previous post)... despite it's lengthy length, I messed up both of my finals pretty bad. BUT I ended up with decent mark thanks to good mid term mark... conclusion: Mid term buffer FTW!

I also need a haircut. FYI this was 2 and a half weeks ago... I STILL need a haircut.

Item 2) I had SOOO much free time after I finished my exams. Since I started University, I've never had summer because of either co-op or summer school. Now that I am done University, I have no idea what to do with all this free time. Its funny, before during school my excuse to not do stuff was because I had school to deal with. Now that I don't have that anymore I'm doing even less!

Item 3) Left 4 Dead FTW...too!! SICK SICK SICK game.

Item 4) STAR TREK FTW... three!!! SICK SICK SICK SICK movie. I'm definitely getting this on DVD and might even see it again in theatres. And I'm not even a Trekkie.

Item 5) I've started working temporarily for my uncle. He owns a imprinting shop. Basically, he prints logos and imagines on promotional items such as pens and USB keys. As a result, I've developed many many useless talents. I can proudly say I can take USB keys out of plastic wrappers really fast without breaking the wrapper, I can also unclip, reclip and re-wrap them fast. I can also stack boxes into small spaces very well and I am good at making space... if Tetrus was only boxes, I would rock at it.

Item 6) Since I've started working I've actually been doing more in my spare time than when I was out of school and not working.

Item 7) Matt fact of the day: If Matt were a Star Trek character, he would probably be Kirk. Sorry, I haven't confirmed this with one of those Quizes yet.

  • Jersey Mesh

I am absolutely just LOVING the weather right now. I couldn't resist going out to play basketball the first day I could. Now I usually wear my jersey when I play and it's awesome outside especially when the wind blows because of the mesh like material the wind just goes right through it and the breeze is refreshing especially when you are sweating all over (haha ok maybe too visual there).

Anyways, I played last Saturday with a couple friends and we went out to grab a quick lunch afterwards. Since we were close to the place we decided to just go straight there (without going home and showering). I didn't want to get my clothes dirty so I just left my jersey on.

Mind you this is a whole new experience for me - wearing my jersey while not playing basketball. Keep in mind we are taking about just the jersey and nothing under (risky I know).

NOW I understand why gangsters and hipsters wear jerseys for fashion, they are SOOO comfortable. Honestly I couldn't feel the heat or anything, just breeze, nothing but breeze =D... this must be what wearing a dress feels like. Its sooo liberating and free and comfy. I think I'm going to do this more often. Who's up for some jersey shopping? =D

Random Matt thought of the day: so wait... is Beauty and the Beast about inward or outward beauty? Cause he turned into a handsome Prince in the end anyways...

  • FML!!

    Fake Moon Landing!!

haha yes don't worry I know what it REALLY stands for... after looking it up. My friend had "FML" on his MSN a few weeks ago and I didn't know what it meant then so then I guessed some randomness like "Funky Man Love" and then afterwards I looked it up and then told him 'Don't worry I know what it REALLY stands for'.

Anyways, the following sad AND true story happened to me a couple weeks back about the same time I found out what FML meant, funny enough.

I'm a Teaching Assistant for an accounting course and this course had 2 exams for some reason one that was really early like before reading week even started.

As a TA I also have to invigilate, aka bring papers to the test room, hand them out, do attendance, walk around, collect them, count them, bring them back, sort them. You know simple stuff like that, you must be thinking how can you possibly mess this up right? Well... I did and MULTIPLE times too. Freaky Matt Laugh!

Instance 1: We walked into test hall with X number of test papers, they were properly seperated per lecture with 1 or 2 extras per lecture. Each TA was responsible for handing out 1 or 2 lectures. Afterwards, when we handed all of them out, we were short because we had extras and even those got handed out. Fat Mayonnaise Lecithin! (look it up)

Instance 2: Ok no need to panic, maybe there were just extra people who went to the wrong hall? Well after collecting signatures, it was official we were missing 3 whole booklets. Flacid Monkey Liquids. =(

Instance 3: So my teacher is freaking out and that by default means so are we the TAs. He sends us off to look for the missing paper, go row by row and see if anyone has an extra booklet he says. And we go. The exam is only 1hour long so we don't have a lot of time to look for it. and we don't. He even annouces in the middle of the exam and asks everyone if any of them got an extra exam paper by accident. No one answers. Farming Makes Lettuce!

Instance 4: We figure its a lost cause and give up on the witchhunt. Teacher tells us to look extra careful when we are collecting and to make sure that everyone returns the exam questions. We collect it, we count and at least those numbers add up. We bring the papers back and begin to sort by Lecture and by Alpha. and someone reports a missing exam book... not good, they could sell it teacher says. Hes not happy again. Luckily I didn't collect that one. I was left to sort one of the bigger lectures and these two girls team up and sort another. Both lectures are about equally as big. Another Prof looks at me and goes "Matthew don't fail my sex and lose to these girls". They were almost done when I was halfway done and Prof goes "Matthew you fail, you have failed my sex. Let me help you." Forgetful Moms Late.

Instance 5: Prof and I are sorting, I managed to sort it by alpha before he helps out. Now we have to seperate question book from answer book and check off the Lecture list to make sure everyones there. and Prof finds a couple that are out of order... Prof goes "Matthew you failed again, these are out of order!" Flat Managment Loans!

Instance 6: It gets worse, while I'm sorting I get a paper cut. I joke about claiming Workers Comp. SAME Prof goes "Matthew you have failed my sex again, you have weak skin!" and then I go it's because girls moisturize and I don't. Fancy Mariachi Lids?

Anyways, I got called on a multi-fail by the same Prof in a span of like 10 minutes. That was probably the worst part.

Random Matt Fact of the day: I didn't know what blood jellow was the first time I had it until after I ate it... I didn't know what jello was until lst month, I can still eat it but I don't enjoy it as much anymore... FAST MANIC LEPRACHAUNS!

feel free to post your FMLs below

  • Study break

I'm almost finally done University and it still hasn't hit me yet for some reason. I had my last undergrad class last week and I didn't even feel relieved afterwards, maybe it was because I spent the better part of the days before staying up doing assignments.

I feel so indifferent... numb to it all for some reason. I feel like I should be freaking out or at least a bit concerned about my future. I'm not too sure what to feel, I've reached the top but I don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at.

Entering University I always thought I would come out with a degree, sense of purpose and a job. But right now I don't know what to do with my degree and I'm not even close to finding a job. Its weird in University, its like I've been in autopilot... things happen and you just react to it and as we know University schedule is what it is... a schedule and you get used to it. Start of year you kind of chill, sometimes you have an assignment or two and you do them. Them mid terms creep and you start to study. Mid terms are done you chill until assignments again and then you study for finals.

At this point, I don't even have to think about it I just do. I know I shouldn't be complaining because work is even more painfully repetitive but I'm going to make sure I don't repeat loop.

    A Couple observations:

-The Time Machine has in fact been created, it costs roughly $40'000 and brings you ahead 4-5years and it's called University. I don't know about you guys, but every year seems to go by faster and faster.

    - I still have yet to figure out how my Calculator gets into "RAD" mode instead of "DEG" and how to fix it back, I think it's mostly because pushing the reset button on the back of it is much easier than figuring this out.

-Reading before class actually helps... WHY DIDN'T I DO IT EARLIER!!??

-secret to success #1: GOATEE POWER! I noticed that as time comes closer to exam day, I tend to study a lot better and the only connection I could think of was my goatee. I like to grow it out during exam period and I noticed that as time comes closer to exam day, my goatee is also longer, therefor it must be GOATEE POWER!!

-secret to success #1.2: if you are a girl, sharpee goatee might have some powers too or you could try taping on a fake goatee.

-secret to success #2: DRESS for SUCCESS. The better you look for an exam, the better your chances are of doing well on it. If you're a management student, look like a management student. Got to your exam with a business power suit. Not only will you feel empowered but you will also do well. If you don't at least you will look good doing not well. If you're a humanities student... look like a management student.
